At a very young age, Lorde has already been soulfully establishing herself and her music into the limelight. But did you ever wonder who she is behind the curtains? Born as Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor in Takapuna on November 7, 1996 and raised in Devenport, Auckland, this 16 year old singer-songwriter from New Zealand is no ordinary high schooler. She started to showcase her talent as early as 12 and has been continually progressing ever since.
Her stage name, Lorde, was originally derived from her attraction with themes relating to royals and aristocracy. She would have taken her name out of the title, Lord, but in order to make it sound feminine, she chose to go with Lorde. Her unwavering song writing talent must have come from her genes since she was said to start writing songs at 13, claiming that she had always been a wide reader and that she got her poetic skills from her mother. She believes that song writing is her way to express herself, using it as her outlet in order to suffice her creative desires. Lorde was discovered on a talent show where she performed Duffy’s piece entitled, Warwick Avenue, where she eventually signed up for Universal. Her trendy electro-rock type of music blended well with her songs that mostly covered the life of being a teenager. She may have looked more mature than how old she really is but she still is the typical youngster who loves to play and have fun.
Well, we can just expect to see more of her as she continuously grows as a young artist. Her debut album, Pure Heroine, has already been hitting a worldwide commercial prominence. At that age, who would have thought that this lady coming from a distant land would actually become a model for the young generation? You can get Lorde tickets for her concerts here. But don’t expect for them to be available very long, she is one hot star at the moment. Good luck.
